Friday evening was a sleepless night for Chloe and I. She was itchy, crying and taking meds as she could and nothing was relieving her allergic reaction. Sometime in the wee hours of the morning I shined a light on her to see how she was doing and she just looked awful. Jason was working so I bundled up the kids and headed to the ER.
I can barely look at the photo of Chloe with her rash. It looked even worse in person, bright red, swollen and taking over most of her body.
The Dr was very concerned for her and said we'd be there minimum of four hours and maximum all day. He wanted to get ahead of the reaction, treat it and keep her there under observation. There are scary things like pulse and blood pressure during an allergic reaction that I hadn't even thought about yet. We ended up being there for about six hours.
At that point Jason got off work and came to check on his little girl, bring me some breakfast and then take Cooper home. He was the calm, reassuring husband and daddy we needed.
My mom also came to support me and be there for Chloe. Thank you so much for always being there for us.
Grandma and papa Smith sent the softest teddy bear and balloons to the hospital. Chloe was surprised and so happy to receive them. Thank you so much for thinking about her.
And thank you to all the family and friends that were and have been checking on us since her initial allergic reaction on Friday. Your concern and support means the world to us. It's a very scary situation to go through and we've appreciated hearing from all of you.
Chloe began to look and feel better Saturday. So we were still able to keep our evening plans. But first gramma and papa treated us to cherry berry, Chloe's fave :-) then we all went over to Rich and Andrea's home for some family fun and dinner. It's so fun and easy to all hang out, play with the kids, watch the kids play with each other, chat, eat and drink. Just what we needed after a very, very stressful day.
As for today, Chloe is feeling better and looking better. She's on quite a few meds for a little while. Only was itchy this evening and the red spots are faded with just some light red on her face and pale.
Chloe has been such a brave little girl going through all of this. I'm beyond grateful that we were able to get ahead of the reaction like the doctor termed it. I'm really counting my blessing.
