Chloe is healthy and happy and we couldn't be prouder of the young girl she's growing up to be.
As some of you know, over the years I have been concerned about her sensory issues. A few examples are she doesn't like to get wet or feel wet, she doesn't like loud noises, she's sensitive to brushing her hair, she doesn't like dirty hands. And the transition from summer to fall/winter clothes is the most difficult because she goes from sleeveless, flowing dresses to having to be covered up in warm clothes. She will not wear turtle necks, sweaters, hoodies, jeans, corduroy, tights, her pants have to be higher than the highest mom jeans and have to cover her ankles, the leggings can't be too tight either, the seam on her sock has to be just right, shoes have to fit just right, clothes have to be very soft and in her words very comfy. That's all I can think of off the top of my head but I'm sure there's more.
After talking with her Dr. he told me that these kinds of traits are in high functioning children and are often signs in a gifted child. He gave me some coping strategies and reassurance to work with her to help any frustrations either of us can feel during the more difficult times. We've always known that Chloe is a free spirit and we are constantly being surprised by her. We love her more than anything in the whole wide world!
